About me
My name is Alona Nir, and I am a Reform rabbi, educator, and Jewish ceremony host. I began my journey in the world of ceremonies out of a love for people, meaningful connections, and the special moments that make up the cycle of life – weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, births, and mourning. I believe that every person and family deserves a ceremony that honors their personal story, and creates a deep and meaningful connection to Jewish tradition – at eye level, with sensitivity, and joy.
I have over 20 years of experience in educational and community work, in Israel and abroad, including seven years as a rabbi and as CEO of an active Reform community. I have led countless ceremonies – each of which was built together with the participants, out of listening, creativity and love for the words, the ceremony and the moment. I am certified as a Reform rabbi from Hebrew Union College and have a master's degree in conflict resolution studies from the Hebrew University. All of this allows me to bring with me both extensive knowledge, tools for guidance and accompaniment, and also calmness, joy and responsibility in moments when it is important that they proceed exactly as you dream.
I organize egalitarian, personal, and emotional weddings – for couples of all backgrounds and identities. I accompany girls and boys on their way to Bar and Bat Mitzvah – through a personal and profound process that respects the boy or girl as they are. I believe that a good ceremony is one that feels real – that speaks the language of the participants, connects the family and community, and leaves a mark on the heart.
If you are looking for a ceremony that is both yours and connected to tradition, if it is important to you that it has content, respect, warmth, and light – I would be happy to walk you on the path to that. Together we will build the moments you will want to remember for a lifetime.
